I always have a feeling inside me that i don’t belong here. i always felt like an alien, different than who’s around me. we don’t speak the same language! we are never on the same page! and what means alote to me means nothing to them! I’m almost convinced that i was born in the wrong era !
One of my comfort zones is Movies. Cinema is like my own parallel universe. Whenever I’m down and feeling isolated i watch movies. Not any movies, Movies that take me where I suppose to be…
Yesterday i went to “The Other Resurrection” Exhibition in CAP Kuwait. I’m so glade to see these kind of Photographic Arts exhibitions coming up. its about time for us here to start to understand what is photography about.
Its not always about taking beautiful pictures, For me it was never about that. I’m tired of all the digitally abused photos i’ve been seen exhibited all over the years. people here should rethink about using photoshop editing that much!
What made me appreciate this exhibition most is the message behind each of the 6 participated photographs projects.
“Maria” Project By iranian photographer Neshwa Tavakolian shows a series of documentary photographs of a transsexual Iranian man, a former truck driver father who went to a Sex change surgery, The Series Show the sad truth of her living isolated for the obvious reasons…
“Picture An Arab Man” a series by Iraqi photographer Tamara Abdulhadi meant to show the similarity between east and west. all the men in the photos are semi nude Arab Men which strip them from belonging to there identity’s in there dreamy state, raw and vulnerable and so beautiful.
I believe in Humanity and that what i saw in Dalia ElKhamissy project “The Missing” which have a personal effect on me., Not to forget Laura Boushnak project ” Arab Women Education - Eygpt” which raise hope and bring tears to eyes when you see the photos.
Tanya Habjouqa project “Women Of Gaza” reminded me of Kuwait in the 80s. And last but not least Mariam Abdelaziz project “Transition” which express the transitions phase in Egypt last year.
Unfortunately i didn’t get the chance to meet them all, most f them couldn’t make it to Kuwait. Although i was lucky to meet Tamara Abdulhadi. we will meet again this weekend inshalaah and i can’t wait to explore her mind :)
